Channelview homeowner shoots, kills suspected thief

CHANNELVIEW, Texas -- A homeowner shot and killed a suspected burglar late Tuesday afternoon.

The confrontation happened in the 1200 block of Cedar Lane in Channelview.

Harris County deputies say the man confronted the suspect in his garage.

According to investigators, the thief was hauling away items he had stolen when the homeowner told him to stop.

That's when investigators say the suspect reportedly lunged at the homeowner with a tire iron.

The homeowner raised his gun and shot the suspect several times. The man died at the scene.
