A Houston police officer shot a man who was wielding a sword at him Saturday night, officials said.
Police found the man in a driveway in the 3300 block of Hastings. The man, whose name was not released, approached police with the sword.
Officers retreated, asking the man to put down the weapon. Police said the man continued to advance toward the officers.
One of the officers shot him once in the chest.
The man was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Police said he is in fair condition.
